Modern life is often busy and demanding, bringing stress, anxiety, sleeplessness, muscle tension, and other physical discomforts. Since our mental state directly affects our physical health, more and more people around the world are turning to meditation practice.
 
At Dharma Drum Mountain, Chan meditation is taught as a practical discipline for everyday life. Whether walking, standing, sitting, or lying down, its methods can help cultivate balance, stability, and clarity in both body and mind.
 
This Beginners Meditation Class offers a safe and systematic introduction to the principles and methods of Chan meditation. We invite you to come with "the mind of an empty cup"—setting aside past attachments and preconceived ideas—to begin learning from the heart. Experience the breath, become aware of the arising and passing of wandering thoughts, discover your true self, and gradually let go of self-centered attachment, allowing greater freedom and well-being to unfold in daily life.
